At Hand Therapy Specialists, we pride ourselves on the positive feedback we receive from our colleagues in the medical community. Our goal is to work as an integral part of the team helping to make a patient better, so we hold ourselves to the highest standards of professional integrity and open communication.

If you are a referring physician or therapist, we hope working with Hand Therapy Specialists will be a straightforward and rewarding process:

PRESCRIPTION
Once you have determined that hand therapy is needed-- due to any illness or injury from the fingertips to the neck (including the shoulders but not the back)-- your prescription can be generic for therapy, more specific for hand therapy, or very specific for Hand Therapy Specialists.

We are happy to supply you with a referral pad you can print yourself - or you can contact us to have one sent to your office.

TIMING
Early intervention is the key. The sooner we see patients, the better. We will accommodate your patients even if it means a very heavy schedule for us. Our sense of urgency means that your post-op patients will be seen by Day 3 after their operations if at all possible.

COMMUNICATION
You will receive a formal written initial evaluation with our treatment plan and goals.

Once treatment has begun, whenever a patient tells us that he/she has an appointment with you, we will prepare and fax over a progress report for your review prior to that appointment. Any time you have questions or concerns, you are encouraged to call, just as we will call you if we have any questions or concerns.

When treatment is complete, you will receive a formal discharge note including our recommendation for a home program. The patient will receive customized instructions.

SERVING THE DC METRO AREA
We want to know if there is any way that we can help you help your patients or staff. In the past, we have offered continuing ed seminars, hand clinics, and a newsletter aimed at medical professionals.
